Together Toward Change

On February 9, 2018, the Humboldt County Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council (CAPCC) held a meeting with community leaders to develop a multi year plan to identify goals, strategies and activities that can reduce the amount of child abuse in Humboldt County.

From January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016; 1,001 reports to Child Welfare Services were opened for investigation, 589 of which had at least one of the intervention reasons listed as General Neglect. There are three types of General Neglect: basic necessities, positive toxicology screening at birth and unhealthy home. “Basic necessity” and “unhealthy home” are directly correlated to substance use disorder.

CAPCC welcomes all members of the community to join the efforts identified below to help improve the lives of families.
